Listen to The Band Perry on iHeartRadio

(Yahoo!) - One of country music's most eagerly anticipated albums is finally on its way this spring! It's siblings trio The Band Perry's sophomore effort, which follows up their platinum-selling 2011 debut. The hot new set now has an official title and release date.

The collection is called Pioneer, and it'll land in stores April 2--that's just in time for the 2013 Academy of Country Music Awards which hit five days later, and where the band is up for Vocal Group of the Year.

The album promises to be unique due to the fact that the Perrys chose to work with two legendary names in the rock and country fields: Rick Rubin and Dan Huff. "When we set out to record Pioneer, the three of us drove across the country from Greeneville to Malibu to work with one of our musical superheroes, Rick Rubin," notes Reid Perry. "Our time in the studio with Rick was so incredible because during our early sessions he challenged us to set higher goals as songwriters."

The band needed to bring their material to a yet different level, however. "With that experience came the realization that we needed to take the music back home to Tennessee and have Dann Huff bring the songs to life with his production," explains Neil Perry. "Sometimes where one starts off is not where one ends up, which is a big theme for us on Pioneer."

However the trio (which includes big sis and frontwoman Kimberly Perry) managed to create the finished product--Pioneer is already starting off on a good foot. Lead single "Better Dig Two" marks the Band Perry's third No. 1 at country radio.
