Taylor Swift is once again in the running for MTV Video Music Awards. And the country-pop superstar is making a promise to her supporters heading into the fan-voted event.
She tweets that if she's a winner, she'll "keep a firmer grip on the mic this time." Taylor became the first country singer to win an MTV Moonman at the 2009 ceremony, when Kanye West infamously interrupted her acceptance speech.
Two VMA nominations!! If you vote and get us one, I promise to keep a firmer grip on the mic this time ;) http://t.co/nK9rhV95RP— Taylor Swift (@taylorswift13) July 17, 2013
This time around Taylor is in the running in two categories. Her hit "I Knew You Were Trouble" is up for Best Female Video and the top prize of Video of the Year. Voting is under way now at MTV.com.
The 2013 MTV Video Music Awards will take place at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, and air on MTV on August 25th.
