Listen to George Strait on iHeartRadio

George Strait is getting recognized for his lengthy and influential career.

The King Of Country has been tapped to receive the ASCAP Founders Award at the music publisher's upcoming Country Music Awards.

The prize awards songwriters who have made "pioneering contributions to music" and have influenced both their peers and those who have followed.

ASCAP President Paul Williams says Strait certainly fits the bill.  He calls Strait a "living legend" and "a genuine musical pioneer whose influence on country music is immeasurable."

George will be honored at the 51st annual ASCAP Country Music Awards, taking place at Nashville's Music City Center on November 4th.
